The poor had constructed what the pharaoh had asked and instead of paying them right away with grain like the pharaoh had promised, the pharaoh acted like nothing happened. So the people decided to not work or construct anything until the pharaoh gave them their pay he promised, and it worked they got their grain and went back to work.
Ancient Egyptians formed one of the first peace treaties with their neighboring enemy. For over two centuries Egypt fought with their neighbor Hittite Empire for control of land in modern day Syria, later they were convinced by some of their trusted allies to form an alliance to become even more powerful.
